The Bush Capital Band is the band that plays the music for the Bush Dance Group workshops and dances. The venue is the All Saints church hall, corner of Cowper and Bonney Sts Ainslie for the Monday night workshops, which start at 8pm, and Saturday dances, which start at 7.30pm. See Calendar

On the Monday nights the format is open stage where musicians new to the group are welcome join in and play along.

The group is lead by Bob Hodgson (Chromatic Harmonica), and meets and plays for the Monday evening Bush Dance Group (BDG) Workshops and Classes as well as the monthly BDG Second Saturday of the Month Bush Dances.

The music the band plays is a mixture of the Anglo Celtic traditions, which include a healthy amount of tunes collected from Australian sources. A tune book for the group is currently being compiled.

We use a minimal PA system for the Monday night workshops but plugging in is optional to allow newer players to gain confidence and become familiar with the repertoire.

The group consists mainly of sight reading musicians, but some of us are ear players at heart. Instruments currently represented in the group are piano/keyboard, various accordions, concertina, guitar, mandolin, cittern, banjo, fiddle, bass and chromatic harmonica. Of course musicians are not expected to pay the door charge for dancers.

New players are welcome. For further information call Bob Hodgson on 02 6255 2189, or email him on bobhodgson (at) grapevine (dot) com (dot) au
