Canberra has one of the liveliest social dance and music scenes in the country. Bush dancing is very much part of that scene and is meant for folks like you.


2017 End of Month Dances

Bush Dances are held on the last Saturday of most months. Dances scheduled for 2017 are:

Bush Dancing

Bush dancing is Australian traditional social dancing. It's fun and friendly and new people are always welcome. All dances are taught and called, and there is no need to bring a partner. All the dances are to live music by local and interstate bands. The End of Month Bush Dance is normally held at on the last Saturday in the Month, from February to December excluding public holiday long weekends. Please check back here or on the MFS Calendar as all events are subject to change. We are currently in the process of finding a new, permanent venue, so please check for updates.

The dances start at 8:00pm and finish at 11:30pm, except New Year's Eve when we see in the new year.

Cost

Bush dancing has to be the best value-for-money recreation around. Entry to regular Saturday dances is just
$18, $16 for Groups and Concessions, $14 for MFS members (you can join at the door), students half price (see below), under 18s free.

For special dances at the Yarralumla Woolshed the entry prices are just
$24, $22 for Groups and concessions, $19 for MFS members (you can join at the door), students half price (see below), under 18s free.

The Colonial Ball has different pricing as it includes a fully catered supper, please check the event link for full details.

Full-time students are offered half price entry to all bush dancing events including special dances at the Yarralumla Woolshed and discounted rate for the Colonial Ball, just show your student card.

Dress

Good casual, comfortable for dancing.

Supper

Please bring a contribution to the supper. Tea, coffee, cordial and water are available, costing $1 for a "bottomless" cup which you can refill throughout the whole night.

New Years Eve

Come celebrate New Year's Eve at the Yarralumla Woolshed and dance the night away. All the details are at New Years Eve Dance
