Monday Bush Dance Workshops

Bush Dance Workshop "Jubilee Jig".

MOST MONDAYS FROM FEBRUARY TO NOVEMBER - 8:00 - 10:00 PM


Next MONDAY WORKSHOP on 26 June 2017


Bush Dance Workshops provide an opportunity for dancers to learn and practice bush dancing, while enjoying a lively evening of fun and varied dances. Also a chance for musicians to join in (no entry charge for musicians) and learn traditional bush dance music, and for callers to practice their calling.


Bush Dance Workshops are held on Mondays in February through November (except public and school holidays) at All Saints Church Hall 9 Cowper Street Ainslie.

(In December and January come instead to Dancing In The Park - more info here...)

Learn lively dances to live music, or come along and help introduce newcomers to this wonderful activity. Musicians, callers, new & experienced dancers and helpers all welcome.

Irish Set Dancing

North Canberra Baptist Church Hall, 17 Condamine St Turner

MFS Members $8 / Non-MFS $9. Light Supper included.

New dancers very welcome. No need to bring a partner. First two classes are FREE. Also FREE beginner/refresher classes on selected Wednesdays 7.30 - 8 PM.

End of Month Dance

EOM dances are held on the last Saturday of most months. These are open to everyone and the next of these is:

AUTUMN CELEBRATION Dance is on SATURDAY 27 MAY 2017 from 8.00 - 11.30pm

Enjoy a full evening's dancing to music by Earthly Delights Players with calling by John Gardener at the Canberra Baptist Church, 11 Currie St Kingston.

You don't need prior experience and you can come with or without a partner. Why not bring a group of friends for even more fun.

All dances are taught and then called and you'll be joining in before you know it.


Cost is just $14 for MFS members; $18 for non-members; $16 for groups and concession holders, and under 18s free. Please bring a plate of supper to share during the dance.

Second Saturday Bush Dance

The Bush Dance Group is pleased to present the Second Saturday of the month bush dances which will be held most months - see the online calendar or Bush Dance Group Saturday Dances for details.

The next Second Saturday Dance will be held at All Saints Church Hall on SATURDAY 8 JULY 2017.

Join us for an evening of Aussie Bush dancing presented by Peter Foster and other invited callers. As usual there will be live music provided by the Bush Capital Band. Start time is 7pm, with supper around 9pm and finishing at 10.30pm.

Cost is just $10 for MFS members and $12 for non-members (or $11 for groups and concession holders), with full-time students half price and under 18s free. Please also bring a plate of supper to share during the dance.

All dances are taught and called, so no prior experience is necessary. A great fun night of dancing for everyone brought to you by the Monaro Folk Society's Bush Dance Group.

Merry Muse

Next Merry Muse Sunday 2 July 2017 4.00 – 7.00 pm

Irish Club, 6 Parkinson St Weston

The Merry Muse presents a blackboard concert along with a feature act. A fun afternoon for those wanting to share their love of music playing, singing or reciting in an inviting and friendly atmosphere. Come along and put your name on the blackboard or just to enjoy an afternoon of music and poetry.

Dancers' Dance

For intermediate to experienced dancers looking for a more challenging and varied evening of dancing.

The next DANCERS' DANCE will be on Saturday 22 April 2017.

Dancing will be a mixture of styles and may include Bush Dances, Contra, Scottish, Bavarian, Scandinavian, English Country Dances, and possibly some others.

The venue is All Saints Church Hall 9 Cowper Street Ainslie with dancing at the earlier times of 7pm - 10.30pm.

Kids' Bush Dances

These will be held in July, August and November at All Saints Hall, Cowper St, Ainslie.
Australian bush dancing for children of all ages (younger children may need some adult help) and for their young at heart carers.

The next Kids' Bush Dance will be on Saturday 8 July 2017, between 2.30 and 4.00 pm.
Gold coin donation. Refreshments available.

Monday Dancing in the Park

Dancing in the Park is a free event for dancers to learn and practice bush dancing (and occasionally other styles), while enjoying a lively evening of fun and varied dances. Also a chance for musicians to join in and learn traditional bush dance music, and for callers to practice their calling.

Dancing in the Park is held on Mondays in December and January (except between Christmas and New Year, or on public holidays) at

Stage '88 in Commonwealth Park - click for details.

Learn fun and lively dances to live music. Musicians, new & experienced dancers all welcome.

Join us for a BYO everything picnic from 6pm at the pergola near Regatta Point, to socialise before dancing starts. All welcome, picnic tables and BBQs on site.
